The Hook Poem

Last week I finished my last Uni assignment for the year for my Creative Writing paper! As part of the assignment I had to revise a poem I wrote earlier in the year! I decided I would revise the poem I wrote about Ben’s “Hook” finger the got mangled in a workshop accident.

One thing I have learnt throughout the year with this paper when it comes to writing poetry it is quite OK to bend the truth a bit as part of having a bit of creative license to make the poem work. So for those of you that know Ben and know about his “Finger Accident” will notice some details in the poem aren’t totally true!

Enjoy :)

The Hook

Thud, thud, thud,

His solid protector bangs on the desk,

As he battles with the keys

Like engine radiator fluid he beings to boil.

Once such a simple task,

Now wears him down with every tap.

What was a workshop adventure,

Now jeopardizes his only means of survival.

His voice grumbles like a revving racecar

With a loud roar his fist comes crashing down

Striking the keyboard with all his might.

Like flying gravel at a start line the small plastic squares fill the air.

The piston shooting pain

An ever-present memory a long road is ahead.

Although time will never change the truth

This disfigured phalange will never hold the ring of love.

Coming Together – BMX

As my last post states I had my 21st party of the weekend and I got lots of amazing gifts from all my amazing friends and wonderful family!!

But there was something that my boyfriend Ben Silcock did for me that was beyond awesome! He got a whole heap of the parts I wanted for my BMX and got it put together!

I am so stoked about it because I didn’t think I could afford to get all of this done before our trip to America!

Thank you Benny for being so awesome and generous! I love you! :) …..Hehe also thank you Andre and Bonnie Simon for buying me the Colony Sprocket

I can’t wait to get a seat and some wheels so I can actually ride it! ….. (Taryn not long till we will have our BMX Gang!!) :)

iPad

I have had my iPad for a few weeks now and it really is an amazing piece of technology! Although I have definetly found that it is a piece of technology that you don’t really need until you actually own it and wonder how you ever used to live life without it!

Here are a few photos of it and a few awesomely cool apps I have found for it. The only downside I have found with the app store for the iPad is that a lot of the apps that you can get for the iPhone are not available for the iPad.

It really is a very good looking device!

The cover for the iPad 2 is a great accessory! It is so multi purpose! :)

The Garage Band app is one of my favorite! It is so easy to use and you can play all sorts for different types of instruments. You can even sing into it and it will record you :) I can often be a bit tight about spending money on apps but this one was totally worth the $6.49! haha.

Ok so this game really is a bit of a guilty pleasure! It is called Bloons TD4 HD! It is so simple but so fun! The aim of the game is to place super monkeys around the track to blow up the balloons before they reach the end of the track! … P.S. This is also an app you can get for your iPhone :)

This last app probably could be used for really useful things but I like to use it to do silly drawings! hehe :)

This is a drawing of Ben sitting on the toilet and using his iPad at the same time! Haha. Sometimes he gets so caught up in playing on his iPad he forgets he is actually still on the toilet!

Haha this is Ben and I going to the supermarket and me being pushed round in the trolley because 1) i HATE going to the supermarket. And 2) i am rather good at being a lazy bitch :) (I feel i did a good job of depicting Ben‘s hair colour) :)

Disassembling The BMX

Yesterday Ben and I went and picked up his BMX! It is in pretty awesome condition!

We then heading over to STM to start taking them apart!

I actually had a lot of fun disassembling my bike.

Haha I actually used tools and everything! Im like a pro already! :)

I even got my hands dirty! Think it’s time to get my nails re-done now though!

So, next up we are going to get the frame, fork and handle bars acid dipped to strip all the old paint off them. Then it will be time to pick the perfect green colour to get it all painted! Can’t wait!

Stolen Girlfriends Club Necklace

It was mine and Ben’s 1 year anniversary the last weekend of March and being the dedicated girlfriend that I am, I spent it in Palmerston North at Jamboree while Ben worked! (I did actually enjoy myself there though) :)

Ben had told me he had ordered me something special but hadn’t arrived yet! I was super excited he had actually got me a gift considering we are saving for our trip to America at the end of the year!

Anyway, last night when I got home from work Ben had a wee box for me! Inside was the “I Love You To Death” Stolen Girlfriends Club necklace!!!! I was so crazy excited, I have wanted this necklace for so long! Also turns out the one Ben got was one of the last ones in NZ!

Thank you Ben :) Your gift is still on its way! ;)

Boat Trip

Ben and I spent the weekend in Auckland and were lucky enough to get to go out on my parents boat on Sunday. Amazingly the weather was actually really good! We had a great day and was super relaxing!

Mum also made a delicious 3 course lunch!!It was amazing, as her cooking always it! :)

Ben even got to steer the boat! He did really good and didn’t crash it! haha
