One Week In Las Vegas
While in the states we spent 5 nights in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Hotel which is at the south end of “The Strip”. It really is a fantastic hotel with so much to offer. It has around 30 different restaurants, along with its own Wedding Chapel, Beauty Spa and a Lion Enclosure.
(Don’t worry Mum we didn’t get married!)
The one thing that I found interesting is that in Las Vegas everything is inside the hotels. We are talking restaurants, bars, clubs, shopping malls (the high roller kind) and more.
One night we went to the NEW YORK NEW YORK Hotel to watch a Cirque Du Soleil show called Zumanity. This is not just your standard Cirque Du Soleil show – this show is a sexy one! Boobies out and all! Guys you will love it, and girls trust me you will too! Lots of HOT men with no clothes on!
Speaking of the NEW YORK NEW YORK Hotel, I would really recommend going there for a meal and just to hang out. The whole hotel is laid out like New York streets. It is totally worthwhile getting a pizza while you are there. It is like no pizza you have ever eaten before – leaves all New Zealand pizza’s for dead!
A few other interesting things we found out while in Las Vegas is taxi’s are not allowed to pick you up off the street, it is against the law. They are only allowed to pick you up from a Hotel! Also it turns out you can drink on the street and take your drinks from one hotel to another. You get these huge yard glass slushies which are full of alcohol and you can just walk round town with them and get them filled up along the way.
While you are in Las Vegas be prepared for every night to be a big night! We went out partying every night and without even realizing it we weren’t getting home until 5am. Everything is so big and there is so much to see that time passes so quickly.
One of our larger nights started out with us going to Shibuya restaurant in the MGM Grand Hotel. I swear this place has the best japanese food I have ever eaten and the most amazing Sake – which is saying something because normally I can’t stand Sake!
The night continued on with us heading to the Cosmopolitan Hotel which involved a lot of drinking and gambling. The best part is that I won $175 on the Craps Tables, I turned into a real pro. Ben didn’t have quite as much luck as me though.
One of the coolest things I Las Vegas is they have mini versions of some of the major historic buildings, towers and statues from around the world there. Such as the Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, London Bridge and an Egyptian Pyramid which is actually a hotel!
While we were there we watched the mind blowing water show which is outside the Bellagio Hotel. I recorded the whole thing, the huge banging noises you hear is the jets pushing the water up in the air.
What I learnt from our time in Las Vegas is you don’t have to spend huge amounts of money on your hotel room because the reality is you are not going to spend much time in it. You can still experience the amazingness of every hotel on The Strip without having to be a guest at it. And there are plenty of nice hotels at a really reasonable price.
There is so much to see in Las Vegas and you will continuously get your mind blown. It is a place you have to go to at least once in your life!!
